Mission Statement
The mission of Newton Elementary School is to produce students who are prepared to begin the next level of learning with self-confidence and the desire to succeed. This is achieved by providing an appropriate curriculum which is taught by an innovative and nurturing staff in a positive and caring environment.
Guidance and Counseling Philosophy
Newton Elementary School's guidance and counseling philosophy is designed to assist students in achieving a positive self-concept toward themselves and others.
Counselor's Beliefs
Students have a right to be respected and treated with dignity.
Students learn best when they have a positive self-concept and a good relationship with their peers.
Students are responsible for their actions.
Students can and need to succeed.
Students who understand their feelings are able to control their behavior.
Services
Listening attentively to students in an effort to resolve conflicts.
Explaining test results to help students and parents understand and use the information appropriately.
Referring students to outside agencies when appropriate.
Consulting with teachers and other school professionals regarding curriculum decisions.
Helping students become responsible for their behavior by becoming aware of the consequences.
