On Tuesday, October 5, 2021, Newton Elementary School held an official ribbon cutting ceremony for its classroom additions. The construction for the classrooms began in September 2020, but due to COVID the ribbon cutting ceremony had been postponed. In attendance for the ceremony were Tiny Miss Ewell Morgan Stanford, Tiny Miss Pinckard Ava Claire Weed, Miss Newton Madelyn Cherry, Future Little Miss Newton Hadlee Lawrence, Young Miss Ewell Madison Stanford, Little Miss Newton Sofia Holton, Miss Spirit of Newton Rae Houston, Young Jr. Miss Newton Bella Brookshire, NES Guidance Counselor Jessica Daniels, NES Principal Patrick Reed, Pinckard Baptist Church Senior Pastor Chris Woodall, Dale County Board of Education member Phillip Parker, Newton Mayor Lonnie Daniels, DCBOE member Priscilla McKnight, Dale County Schools Superintendent Ben Baker, Dale County Commissioner Charles "Chic" Gary, and DCBOE member Shannon Deloney.
